I figured I had better have a quick sticky for the purpose of people finding out why I randomly friended them when they have never spoken to me before. First and formost ever since I joined Livejournal this space has primarily been an easy way for me to track authors and fandom personalities that I like.

I have tried my hand at other things but as it turns out the lurker thing works for me.

So if I have friended you and you want to know why ask yourself the following:
Do you...
* Write fanfic?
* Post fanart?
* Make awesome recs and/or post links?
* Post other kinds of yummy fandomy things (screencaps, podfic, fanmixes etc.)?
* Meta like a goddess?

If the answer is yes to any of the above.... well there you go. If it is no to all of the above, most likely I find you extremely amusing or entertaining to read, or at one stage our fandom paths crossed :)

If none of this seems likely then it is possible I did it by mistake. If this worries you let me know and I'll remove you.

Currently I sporadically friend in the following fandoms: Supernatural, SGA, Merlin, Harry Potter.

Just finished reading the series, wanted to knock them out before the movie came out. I found them interesting overall. I'm always drawn into dystopian worlds, fantasy worlds, apocalyptic futures etc. So this intrigued me quite easily. I won't go into more details than that! But if the dystopian controlled future is a premise that appeals to you give them a go! Easy reading and engaging ^_^

Mainlining SGA yet again. However still have season six and seven of Supernatural to watch.... and I hear Merlin has started back up again. Wowzers I need to catch up.

Ah the perils of living in a foreign country.... just bought out the entire English book selection in my local second hand book store.

Also howdy livejournal! Long time no see!

SGA....

So in the last few weeks I have mainlined every episode of SGA except for the last three....

I was never really into the whole stargate thing when it was at its strongest, I'd seen a few episodes here and there, liked it but wasn't overly fussed. Now I can't watch the last episodes cause I know its over (late realisation is late). And no suprise to anyone, least of all myself, I am reading fanfic.

Mcshep seems to be the staple, though I'm kinda dying to find some really IC, canon based Gen fic. More than anything I just want to keep reading about their adventures.

So anyone out there that was in/is still in SGA fandom, got any recs? Favorite authors? Self pimp away as well ;)

Saw Glee last night, already on Australian television, which is INSANE up until 2 years ago it could quite easily be a year before new seasons came on to our telly. I thought it was fun, looking forward to seeing where the season goes, if they can keep it up.... and just who Kurt's boyfriend turns out to be!

Lastly new Supernatural very very soon! I'm excited and aprehensive... it is all very confusing ^_^

Catching up on episode 5 of season 8. Oh My God. Could that team be made up of any more self entitled asses? I especially liked their little tearshow *yak*

They make me so angry! Its just a reality tv show!? Its meant to be my fun tv show!

Finally saw Inception tonight... Ok so maybe I can see what everyone was talking about! I kinda loved it!

I do think I am gonna spend the rest of the night thinking about it.... I'm a little bit tired for my head to be working so much though.

Ahahaha!

Sums up the last 50 years or so of Australian politics pretty well I reckon ^_^

Thoughts as I head to bed, as there is no point watching anymore...

1. I didn't vote Lib or Lab, I'm all for the smaller parties that speak to what I actually care about rather than fer mongering political giants, that said, based blindly on their speeches Abbot was much more passionate and would have got my vote, Gillard was eloquent, but stiff and a bit cliche BUT... based on their supporters...

Drunk Abbot supporters in the room, STFU you make the rest of your party supporters seem like rude asshats, booing at the oppositions name, calling out taunts, compared to you Gillard's supporters had so much more class.

2. Don't know if I could stand heading back to the polls in another year or so.

3. Go Greens! First Greens MP!

4. Lastly.... I think I may need to stay away from all media outlets for the next week. Someone get me when its over.

So...

Calling anyone with computer knowledge of any level! Slight problem, I can work around it if it comes to it, but I would like to try and solve it as it is more annoyance than anything else.

BACKGROUND STUFF: I have an acer aspire 5620 running XP, about 3 years old and well and truly ready for retirement, but I am pushing it for as long as I can, struggling uni student here :P. The latest in a long line of issues is the screen connection seems to be loose (display jumping all over), with no funds to fix this I figured the cheapest route would be to switch to an external display... here comes the dilemma.

I have them connected via a VGA cable, no troubles there, and currently am able to move between screens like it is one big display (not sure the correct term here) what I want though is for the monitor to be the main display and the laptop the secondary, or turned off altogether. This is where I get stuck. the crt/lcd button (fn+f5 for me) does not seem to do anything and the option to change the primary monitor under display properties --> Settings are grayed out.

Sorry for the narrative but does anyone have any tips anything I might have glaringly missed. I have an intermediate level of experience and knowledge but am well and truly stuck here, so any advice big or small would be much appreciated ^_^

EDIT: This has been x-posted to various computer help forums and groups ^_^

Okay, I'm not liking whats happening at the moment. What do I mean? I HAVE TOO MUCH WONDERFUL CHOICE ON WHAT TO READ!!!!!

So you know how I deal with this abundance...? BY NOT READING ANY AND PLAYING TRADEWINDS ODYESSY!!!! You see my dilemma now? It seems as I am unable to pick then I'm not reading any at all, grrr, this is not how I was envisioning my time after exams were over!

Oh poor me you say, Uni is over for the semester I have all the time in the world to read and I am surrounded by great choices, boo hoo.

All I want to do is read some I need to break this lock I'm in! Maybe I'll just start reading from the oldest forward, ponders this.
honeynougat: (Default)
OF COURSE!

F@#$%! @#$%!!!!!

In the less than 10 mins where I restarted firefox for updates, with all my tabs open and saved to good reading livejournal goes down. WHY WHY WHY not 10 mins earlier when I would have noticed and not shut down all my tabs. Now we have to wait the indefinite period for LJ to be back up and can get back to BB reading. Hope any of you readin this had better luck than me ^_^

Just realised I have 4 invites to use on DW (finally). Is there anyone that wants an account that doesn't have one yet? Any friends of friends?
honeynougat: (Default)
Okay so I need some advice...

How do I come down from this extreme high I have been on for the past 4 days?! I have all this nervous energy still churning around inside me, it feels odd to not be surrounded by hundreds and hundreds of screaming fans, to not have the boys right. there.

I can't even retreat to reading fanfic or accounts of the con because I'm still not home and I have approximately 10 mins of internet time remaining.

I'll probably just try wandering around Sydney like I did on my first day, but I can't shake it and I really need to! I have a midsemester exam in 2 days, need to be in a whole other mindset!

Seriously and experienced Con go'ers with advice? Is it always like this? Will I ever return to normal?!
